History of Mack Trucks
The Mack Brothers Company, now known as Mack Trucks, was established in 1900 by John “Jack” Mack and Augustus F. “Gus” Mack in Brooklyn, NY. The Mack brothers entered the vehicle manufacturing business in 1893, when they purchased the Fallesen and Berry carriage company, a carriage and wagon company that Jack began working at in 1890.
In 1917, Mack trucks gained their nickname when the British government bought the Mack AC model to deliver soldiers, provisions, and supplies to the front lines during World War I.
During the 1950s, the Mack L series trucks, which were manufactured between 1940 and 1956, showcased a sleek and enduring design that garnered immense popularity. Some versions of these trucks incorporated numerous aluminum parts and high-performance engines to effectively meet the transportation demands of long-haul operators on the West Coast.
