The history of LandMark Implement begins with the purchase of Brown Implement Company by Clyde McClymont and his son Richard (Dick) McClymont, Sr. in 1947. Dick had just returned from WWII and his family was engaged in agriculture. Once acquired, the name was changed to reflect the new ownership and McClymont Implement, Inc. was established. The mid-fifties were drought-ridden and there was an over-abundance of precipitation a couple of years after that. Times were sometimes harsh, but along with the farmers, so went McClymont Implement. Dick McClymont was admired by those that worked with him. One of Dick's longtime customers, Gordon Soneson, stated, "Dick’s word was gold."

In the early 1970's, McClymont Implement became the first John Deere dealer to reach a million dollars in wholegoods sales volume within the Kansas City Branch. Outgrowing their current facility, a new facility was built southwest of Holdrege in 1973 where they are located today. This new facility provided increased space for more efficient service and parts sales.

The 1980's proved to be hard on businesses involved with agriculture, but McClymont Implement pulled through. Dick's oldest son, Richard, joined McClymont Implement in 1981 and his younger brother, Ted, in 1982. In 1985, Dick McClymont retired and his boys became co-owners.

In 1994, McClymont Implement purchased Schafer Brothers in Alma, which was used primarily as a service center. They also increased and improved their service shop size at the Holdrege store. The second of three additions to the service shop. In 1997, McClymont Implement celebrated their 50th anniversary and obtained a new logo to solidify their image.

In 1999, the LandMark you are familiar with today starts to take shape with the purchase of Smith Center and Phillipsburg. Warren Miller of Holdrege and Troy Lorenzen, manager of the former Smith County Implement were now among the owners. The next year, the Minden Terminal was merged into the group and Jim Mach, the manager and owner of the former Minden Terminal, came into the ownership group. Three groups still operating on their own were now associated with McClymont Implement, Inc. with five locations in Holdrege, Minden, Alma, Smith Center and Phillipsburg. In 2006, LandMark Implement, Inc. was formed with four dealerships: Holdrege and Minden in Nebraska, and Smith Center and Phillipsburg in Kansas. With this new arrangement, LandMark could now provide superior customer support with increased service capacity and greater parts availability. LandMark Implement continues to make it into the elite Manager's Club. This includes the top 50 dealers in North America based on performance metrics set forth by John Deere Company. The key to the success of LandMark Implement can be attributed to its loyal and hard-working employees and long-time loyal customer base. To solidify the ownership group in place today, Andy Grollmes joined the organization after his service with John Deere as a Territory Manager, regularly calling on Smith Center and Phillipsburg. LandMark is now celebrating its 65th year in business and employs over 160 employees. Two more dealership acquisitions in 2009 from Husker Ag, with locations in Lexington and Gothenburg, complete the current picture. Six dealerships: four in South Central Nebraska and two in North Central Kansas. LandMark continues to build and grow. Smith Center doubled their location size in 2004, expanding the shop and showroom. Recent shop additions in Minden (2010) and Holdrege (2011) have increased their service capacity along with the purchase of a new facility East of Holdrege (2011) which will house the Corporate Support Center. The Corporate Support Center will house Management and Administrative Staff as well as a permanent training facility for employees and customers. LandMark Implement continues to grow and is focused on providing exceptional customer support and serving its customers with the same great service they have come to expect. After all, the LandMark Difference has been and always will be, "Building our business one satisfied customer at a time."
