stored inside The Veris Mobile Sensor Platform (MSP) is a tractor-pulled (or implement-mounted) soil sensing system that collects multiple soil properties in real time as you drive across a field. It is used in precision agriculture to map within-field variability of soil attributes so that inputs (lime, fertilizer, etc.) can be applied variably rather than uniformly. It has a soil sampling mechanism (a probe or shoe) that contacts the soil, draws in a small amount of soil, then a pH electrode measures the soil pH. The system includes coulter electrodes or blade electrodes that contact the soil to measure electrical conductivity The sensor data is synchronized with GPS coordinates so that each sample is geolocated, producing maps. The system software (e.g. “SoilViewer” or similar) allows visualization, real-time monitoring, and post-processing of the sensor data.
